The Four T’s of Empowerment

I recently read about Mike Shipulski’s post with a similar title (The Three T’s of Empowerment) made me think about empowerment in general. You can read his post here. In the post, the three T’s that he talks about is Time, Training and Tools. Time for our people to learn the tools and provide the necessary training so that they can really feel empowered and deliver on our expectations. Mike shares what happens when we miss any of these three in his post really well. I really recommend that you read his post. In my opinion, apart from these three […]

Your Greatest strength could also become Your Greatest Weakness

Premise In a recent post, Mike Shipulski, talks about how the core strength of a business usually also becomes the biggest weakness for that business, as it ends up consuming all of the resources to optimise its growth and starves all new ideas for resources. I recommend that you read the entire post here. I reckon that this hypothesis holds true for all of us as individuals and as leaders as well. When put in a corner or when we are challenged, we typically fall back to the strategies that have worked well for us in the past. In some […]

Four Ways Projects Get Delivered

As part of my reading list, I always look forward to posts written by Mike Shipulski. He is very wise and has the ability to simplify complex things into easy to understand chunks that help us grasp the concept. He is an innovation expert and has more than 20 patents to his name.  So when I read this post by Mike Shipulski on the nature of projects, I really had to share it with all of you. If you are in the business of leading or managing projects, this is a mandatory read. You can find the post here. If you are […]

Innovation = Finding New Problems X New ways to solve problems

I read a post “See differently, to solve differently” by Mike Shipulski. He argues that innovation is all about solving problems (new/old) in different ways (new/old). There is great potential in solving new problems in new ways. He also argues that in order to solve new problems, we need to identify the new problems and one way of doing that is to look at the problem in new ways. He argues Systems are large and complicated, and problems know how to hide in the nooks and crannies. In a Where’s Waldo way, the nugget of the problem buries itself […]
